The drug Ibuprofen – Advil is amongst the popular brands and is an
NSAID, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Its manufacturer is
Madison NJ based in Wyeth and has been in the market since 1984.
Markets have been flooded with advertisements of the drug with the
slogans such as ‘Advanced pain medicine’ and ‘The Every pain
reliever’. History cannot be changed and Advil has had
advertisements comparing it to Aspirin and Tylenol, with both of
those drugs being portrayed as old fashioned and/or as drugs that
are out of date now.
The manufacturers of Ibuprofen have jumped through a lot of hoops to
get their medicine going up on the market. It has made a lot of
difference on the drugs popularity as well and had shown
considerable increases in the sale of Ibuprofen, which is not only
due to the efforts with its manufacturers advertising the drug but
also because of its effectiveness. People have started to rely on it
for its effectiveness. Exceptional cases cannot be sited in such
theories.
In the advertisements that were aired initially the comparison
between Tylenol and Aspirin showed them to be the old age drug by
including their dates of invention and Advil as the new age drug and
it being more effective considering its time of invention and new
theories supporting it. Television commercials were also a part of
the strategy that the manufacturers used to advertise their drug
properly and showed flashbacks with previous generations depending
on aspirin and Tylenol whereas the current generation used Advil.
